Official Canadian partner
Vancouver-based AI and robotics company building the world's first human-like intelligence in general-purpose robots. Their proprietary Carbon AI system is a cognitive architecture that translates human intent into robotic action. Partnered with Magna International for automotive manufacturing.
History
Sanctuary AI was founded in 2018 in Vancouver by Suzanne Gildert and Geordie Rose — both veterans of D-Wave, the world's first quantum computing company. Their vision was audacious: build human-like general intelligence and put it in a robot body. The company's Carbon AI system approaches the problem differently from competitors — instead of training on massive datasets, it uses a cognitive architecture inspired by how humans actually think and learn. Being Canadian-based, Sanctuary partnered with Magna International for automotive deployment and received significant government support, making Phoenix the only world-class humanoid designed and manufactured in Canada.
Sanctuary AI
Canada's leading humanoid robot, now in its 8th generation (Gen 8). Phoenix is powered by the proprietary Carbon AI cognitive architecture, which translates natural language into physical actions and can automate new tasks in under 24 hours. Gen 8 features improved 21-DOF hydraulic hands with tactile sensitivity down to 5 millinewtons — near-human level. Targeting a $40,000 price point at scale. Partnered with Magna International for automotive deployment across Ontario.
Sanctuary AI
The second generation of Canada's leading humanoid. Phoenix Gen 2 features the Carbon 2.0 cognitive architecture with 3× faster task learning. Built in Vancouver with Magna International as manufacturing partner.
